"The poorest, the weakest, the simplest child, is born for immortality. This value outweighs the entire material universe, no matter how small a mark this child makes on it. The tiniest infant owns a deathless intellect, and is as immortal as the Father of spirits. No one can tell what this child will become."

~ A Prebyterian Pastor who died in 1873

"And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise."

~ (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)

Weekly Chuck #1

Puppy Love

This toy (Rufus may he RIP) was bought for Charlie and quickly adopted by Francie who protected Rufus from all of the ripping, chomping and inapropriatness Charlie could throw at him. Yes her ears are pink, we had just found out we were having a boy and I was purging all of my pink creativity. I am sure Stuart recieved a pink shirt or two during my pink period. DOn't worry about Jack.... I am over it :)

New Idea for Blog

Francie

Charlie

I have found this blog/website called Dooce.com and I love it, she is such a wonderful writer. She has a section called Daily Chuck and it is pictures of her dog Charlie... Well I guess I didn't have to go far for inspiration seeing as the name made my ears perk. So I will start a post called Weekly Chuck in honor of our Francie and Charlie who have lovingly been forgotten on this blog. :) I may also start a weekly style where I show you my current favorite thing... so here it goes.

Mom is Sewing Again!!! YAY

We all knew she could do it, she was just on a short hiatus... but she is back and making beautiful hand made bubbles. I cannot wait to see what else she produces. I know Stuart will LOVE the handstitched buttons as much as I do. Stuart likes to take his time getting Jack's diaper changed, he likes to enjoy the craftmanship of a handmade outfit and enjoys the extra effort he must go through to make sure each button is back on and secure. He once said snaps were too easy and he requested something a bit more challenging.

Valentine's Day Gifts

You know you are loved when you get valentine's day gifts and cards from your family. Seeing as this is a holiday (made up according to Stuart) for LOVE.

Below are the gifts Aunt Sophie, Grammy Donna, Mimi and Sandra, Andy, Alyssa and Daniel brought for Jack, Stuart and I on Valentine's Day. Also we received sweet cards from Aunt Sherry and Uncle David, Grandmother and Grandaddy and Aunt Sophie. Also the McMahans' from church came out on their Valentine's Day to bring us homemade cookies and a beautiful homemade card to go with them. (The cookies didn't make it to the picture for obvious reasons.)

Thank you everyone!

Jack loved the balloons Grammy Donna attached to our goody bag.
Oh and what a surprise (a much needed surprise.) We got a new car seat from Grandmother and Papa. Cannot wait to give it a spin. (We are still currently enjoying the car seat that locks in and out of a base but I do realize we are running out of those easier days.)

Why I Love the Women Of Our Family

Originally this was going to be a mother's day post but I'd rather post it for Valentine's Day.
Mom- Beautiful, Creative, Passionate, An open book with no words.
Best Memory: Lying on the couch together before I was in school, watching old black and white movies. She always would move her toes back and forth and I would try to keep my toes moving with hers and now I do the same thing when I am laying down watching movies.

Andrea- Has so much talent for so many things; passionate about so much from art and music to her studies and profession. I love how she loves my son.
Best Memory: Jumping on the bed and we fell off and she fell on top and broke my arm. When we were at the hospital and she was going to go home with grandmother and granddaddy and I told her I would rather her stay to see what pain I was in. (I really wasn’t in pain at the time I said that.)

Sophie- Her heart is amazing, Sensitivity, Beautiful Awkwardness, talent for sports and has almost a better maternal instinct than I.
Best Memory: Watching her softball games, I loved that. I filled with pride for her because she was so good. Her young love for everything that is GREASE, I think she was 5 when it started.

Nana- Mother Hen, Protector, Gracefully Opinionated, Should have been a Vanderbilt.
Best Memory: Their farm, I loved the farm when they were there in Somerville. On hot summer days she would let us strip down to just our undergarments (because there were no neighbors for miles) and she would spray the hose while we danced in it and caught lightning bugs.

Grandmother- Incredible work ethic, Most kind heart (Sophie has her heart), and the beautiful meekness I see in her eyes.
Best Memory: No one could make our morning oatmeal like her. Mom and Nana were met with many “that isn’t how grandmother makes it” comments. Letting us “bake” in the gazebo she would give us everything from flour to peanut butter and we would go out side and “bake” in the gazebo and no matter what it was she let us put it in her oven and she would actually cook our concoction. Which means a lot now, knowing how clean everything in her home is; there is NO telling what went in that oven.

Candace- Gorgeous, Kind, Wonderful mother, Strong, Vibrant and Energetic.
Best Memory: Thinking she was more beautiful than “Shania Twain” when I first met her and telling all my friends that.

Linda- No one is nicer than Aunt Linda, Bubbly and energetic, I would love to have her or Haley’s personality.
Best Memory: Shopping with her and my mom and all the kids, eating lunch in her big van. Taking naps in her big van, while THEY shopped. We used to BEG to go over to their house on Friday’s after we would go out to eat.

Sherry- Hid such a hidden talent for art for so long, A wonderful cook, Our families memory keeper so much would go forgotten without her.
Best Memory: I loved to go to her antique store I used to think she was sooo rich because I thought she actually owned ALL of the things in her store. She always kept a toy closet for us (which she still has for our children.) I still remember the sweet smell of those toys and her
house.

Haley- Personality, Selflessness, Loving, The most real person that I know and a beautiful mom.
Best Memory: Playing house at grandmothers and they made me be the baby (which I loved) and When she would clean out her closet and send me clothes, I LOVED when she sent stuff and I wouldn’t wash it before I wore it because I loved the way her house smelled and it still smells the same.

Kate- Strong will and preciousness all in the same instance. So pretty and has such an athletic ability.
Best Memory: Being the first to find out that Aunt Candace was pregnant with her and they let me tell my mom and dad.

Sarah Laine: Two words- Beautiful Spitfire!
Best Memory: The first Christmas with her was so exciting and new.

Kristin- Style, Wonderful Cook, Always has beautiful hair, Gives great gifts and I love her eye for décor.
Best Memory: First time I met her she came into the salon I was working when I was 16, salon euphoria and I remember thinking that girl is so beautiful (of course at the time I would have never told her that.) I didn’t know who she was but the second Michael introduced us years later I knew her right away.

Found!

In the back of my closet, now you can all stop franticly looking :)

My Last Meal and Testament

Yesterday was my Birthday, and I am 21 but feel 26 or the other way around. Anyway, the title of this birthday would be appropriately titled the birthday that sucked, but only because Stuey bought me this:

I love it. My rugs just shine (if that’s possible). It’s called “The Animal” and it’s for people with pets, which we just so happen to have.

Grandmother made me my favorite meal ever, Chicken and Dumplings it is so sinfully good. So, why my last meal you ask?

Well, because it’s time to get ready for summer (it may take me longer.) Jack needs a Posh, Skinny mamma and these extra post baby pounds are not going to budge by themselves. So in full disclosure I am going to throw out my weight so all of you can hold me accountable. (by “hold me accountable” I mean if you see me at a snack machine feel free to assume the line backer stance and take me out full force.) Ok now it’s time, I weigh….

1333333 lbs, oh no! Looks like my key got stuck (which is by the way a likely story since I spilt tea all over the keyboard the other day.) But you get the point, I weigh more than I want to. So  my last meal was Grandmother's Chicken and Dumplings and they were worth every calorie.

And that was my testament!

Gray is the New Black

Kathy Gray that is:

Everyone knows when in doubt about your outfit go with black, so when in doubt about your home… go with Gray… Kathy Gray!

Kathy Gray is the most talented lady I know, I had the pleasure of meeting her at my cousin, Kristin’s baby shower. I had heard what a talent she was and when I walked in her house it was confirmed. One word Gorgeous, her house was so great, I just couldn’t wait to get to the next room to see what she had done. Each had its own personality and look; somehow it still flowed.

When she told me she LOVES to decorate (clearly) and also knowing she was co-owner of Willis-Gray art gallery in Decatur I was intrigued, THEN she said she was only $25 and hour, I was SOLD. Just so happens I was getting restless in our little house and needed a change. Lucky for Stuey it only cost him a small fee plus the cost of a few needed items, rather than over $140,000 plus for a new home.

So now Gray IS the new black and that also happens that Gray is my color.

Sound to good to be true ask my friend Rachel, she came by afterwards and I quote
“Wow looks like a Southern Living home.”

And I couldn’t agree more.

Thanks Kathy!

The Early Bird...

Gets to have a conversation with herself!.....

My body clock is wrong all wrong NOT my biological clock my sleep timer, lately my body has been telling me that I do not necessarily need sleep, in fact my best blog posts come to me and my mind thinks of everything in the world.

Sunday, I woke up at 4:00 I laid there until Jack woke at 4:30 so I went and picked him up and we went to the back room and he watch Chaaaaalie and Loooola (that’s my British accent.) While I washed and ironed every piece of our laundry. (This is where I would like to add, I have taught myself to iron at 25, so at least I can take that skill to 26.)

Jack wasn’t too much fun to talk to because he doesn’t care about:
Blog post ideas
Shirts I made Aunt Sophie, he didn’t care which design I used.
My concerns on: my unusual sleep patterns, the economy (not that I am concerned it’s just the going thing), the weather and how it may snow soon, my missing green marmot jacket, the fact that he may need to eat Chef Gerber this week because his Posh mommy just happens to be a Posh slacker NOT QUITER slacker.

He does however LOVE my CHAAAALIE AND LOOOOOLA impression

This morning I woke up at 2am and could not go back to sleep and the dialogue went as follows.

2:30
W: WHERE is my green Marmot jacket?
S: Are you kidding?
W: NO that’s a great jacket. And why would I kid about that.

Then I preceded to go check the closet .

W: It’s not there
S: You probably lost it, you do that with everything you “Love”
W: Stuart!! It’s not that I lose stuff I “love” it’s just I don’t realize I loved them until I cannot find them.

2:45

S:You get a line and I get a pole, he sang , then he sang we’ll go fishin in the crawdad hole.
W: Can’t we just turn the TV on I’m not much for fishing.
S: No I prefer singing old songs.

Then he hummed a goodnight lullaby to himself. I laid there until about 4 and could not take it anymore and went and sat in the den.

So as you can see there isn’t much dialogue available in the wee hours of the morning. Maybe Mr. Sandman is just really busy.

Oh and if you have seen my green Marmot jacket, please let me know.

A Thank You and A Note

First the note.... In the previous post as I finished up, Jack in my lap kicking the computer, I was getting ready to save and then check it but his little toe hit the mouse clicker right as it was over the publish button. So there you go, an un-proofread un-spell checked post. And I am going to leave it that way because my Jack published it.

Second, a THANK YOU to my mom and dad who came to help me on the house yesterday (my mom's 31st birthday by the way [doesn't she look great]). Dad hung our new flat screen on the wall in our bedroom. (and by "hanging" I mean busted through a closet wall, ran cable from the basement through the floor, AND put in an electrical outlet in our closet OH and BOLTED and REINFORCED our TV (which was a birthday gift from them.) This only took him oh between 7-8 hours not because he isn't good, he is just slow I mean accurate but the job is always done right the first time and you can't beat that.

My mom SCRUBBED our house from top to bottom, in fact we will be having dinner on the floor tonight, no plates necessary. She did this all on her birthday and I am so thankful for my parents. God knows what he is doing when he gives a certain child to its parents. It is by HIS hand and not by anything else.

Thanks mom and dad.
