"The poorest, the weakest, the simplest child, is born for immortality. This value outweighs the entire material universe, no matter how small a mark this child makes on it. The tiniest infant owns a deathless intellect, and is as immortal as the Father of spirits. No one can tell what this child will become."

~ A Prebyterian Pastor who died in 1873

"And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise."

~ (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)

Jacks' Fab Five

I thought it would be appropriate to at least give a mention of the shows that keep our household quiet and relatively happy (by "household" I mean Jack.)

First we have Shaun the Sheep, it is a short cartoon that comes on before Playhouse Disney and Stuart and I actually found ourselves watching a whole DVD of it because it was so funny.

Next we have "Praise Baby", this was introduced to us by my cousin Haley she described it as "baby crack" and she couldn't have been more right. Our nightly ritual consists of 5:30 dinner, 6:30 bath time and 7 we put Jack in his swing and turn on "Praise Baby" until he goes to sleep, to say that he loves this DVD would be an understatement. Forget gripe water this DVD is a cure all for any ailment he might have. The one posted is the Christmas one which we do not have but you get the idea anyway. It is basically a baby Einstein format with Church Hymns I have found myself enjoying it for background music as I am cleaning or scrap booking it is so soothing and we even keep Jack out of the nursery until after the music part of Church because he enjoys the music so much due to this show. I strongly recommend this DVD to anyone with a baby of any age, you can get it at any Christian store.

Here is Ooh and Ahh, they are puppet monkey's from playhouse Disney and they are actually pretty cute. I couldn't find the intro but it is a very catchy tune.

Next is Handy Manny, I find myself singing this over and over in my head quite frequently. Kinda annoying but Jack enjoys it. It also keeps Stuart up on his Spanish, I often find him telling me things that are irrelevant to our conversation in Spanish. We may be talking about bills and he comes out with some Spanish phrase that apparently means "I love the beach."

And last but not least Jack's most favorite Word World... this was the first cartoon we discovered that Jack loved, we constantly keep it saved on Tivo just in case none of his shows are on.

Welcome Steven Lamp

Stuart and I are officially an Aunt and Uncle, meet jack's first cousin... Steven Lamp. 8lbs 21.5 inches. Mommy and baby are doing good and we can't wait till they can come visit from Florida.

Congrats Bonnie and Joel he is beautiful.

In other news, as Jack was gnawing on my finger this morning (which I occasionally let him do to soothe his gums) I noticed it hurt more than usual, I looked in his mouth expecting to see barbwire and to my surprise our little man woke up with two top teeth! Amazing what a good night sleep can do.

My Kryptonite

This morning as Stuart was making the bed and I was putting on my make-up, Jack was "on his blanket playing" or so we thought...

We were going on with our normal morning routine when I heard "PSSSSSST (or however you would describe TV static) and then JACK!!!! NO!!!!."

Jack had crawled over to the TV, reached up and yanked out our TIVO antenna, in case you don't know how much I LOVE TIVO let me tell you, I LOVE TIVO Love Love L-O-V-E. When I was telling my sister the story in our typical morning gmail chat she said "Oh he knows how to cut straight to the core of you." and Stuart said "Yep he knows how to get his mommy." It wasn't until then when I thought of the possible ramifications that could have come had Stuart not fixed the problem immediately, how would I know what Dr. Phil was about or who was appearing on Oprah or that I might miss 'So You Think You Can Dance.' Yes, I know that comes on at night but Stu won't let me watch it so I have to catch up the next day.

I remembered back to when I was growing up and it never failed that my sisters and I would break the most expensive and moms most favorite breakable. And because of us she "never had anything nice." We ALWAYS broke her most favorite breakable... So as Jack grows up I am going to make an effort NOT to have a favorite breakable (which is hard) or a 'KRYPTONITE" because there are antiques and lovely breakables all over our home, but I will not become attached to any of them as I know the second I do they will be doomed to a fate of destruction. If I do become attached I will have to make sure the object of my affection is rubber, foam, or plastic and Teflon coated.

My friend Rachel said "Once they become mobile it's a whole new ball game." and truer words have never been spoken. It's as if in a matter of days our lives have changed to the next inevitable stage, not sure we were ready but as I said it was inevitable and we will adjust. So here is to our mover and shaker and to all the things that will be broken.
